ABU DHABI, 14th May, 2018 (WAM) — Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister for Tolerance, has said that the Ministry of Tolerance is promoting the UAE government’s role as a supporter of tolerance by ensuring that employees and ministries apply and promote tolerance, understanding, and co-existence among members of the community, and enabling the exchange of knowledge and cooperation among various ministries and institutions.He highlighted the fact that the government leads in promoting tolerance and peaceful coexistence and has set a leading example for the entire world to follow.He made his statement during the inaugural Ministry of Tolerance Forum that was held today in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of the heads of 45 national government authorities, and with the attendance of over 120 intellectuals, researchers and the youth, under the slogan, Promoting the Role of the Government as a Tolerance Supporter. The forum focused on making key recommendations on how to establish a working mechanism to promote tolerance in all government institutions, which will be presented to Sheikh Nahyan for assessment and approval.In his speech, Sheikh Nahyan said that the forum emphasises the first pillar of the National Tolerance Programme, which is to promote the government’s role as a supporter of tolerance while urging its participants to focus on several issues during their sessions, including the vital role of the government in promoting tolerance and coexistence among the community.He added that UAE citizens are a leading example of a successful community, which is capable of empowering all its residents, to achieve development, peace and loyalty while stressing that the UAE’s government institutions have a key role in creating a culture of tolerance among their employees and providing a working environment that encourages harmony and respect. The first tolerance forum coincides with the Year of Zayed, and we are proud that the founder of the country, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, has left us a legacy that promotes coexistence among people and encourages mutual respect. The values of tolerance and coexistence are also clearly reflected in the statements and actions of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, he said in conclusion.
