UAE celebrates ‘International Cultural Diversity Day for Dialogue and Development’

ABU DHABI, 21st May, 2018 (WAM) — The UAE, which joined other countries in celebrating the annual ‘International Cultural Diversity Day for Dialogue and Development’ on 21st May, has become a centre of many international cultures and a model of cultural balance and coexistence between various communities.Over 200 nationalities live in the UAE, which embraces the cultures of the world.These cultures have maintained their histories and societies and reflect the UAE’s support for world peace, dialogue and reconciliation.Since the establishment of the Union, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was always keen to promote compassion and the culture of peaceful coexistence in the UAE, to make the country a model of political stability and respect for personal freedoms.The UAE’s cultural diversity is based on coexistence and tolerance, and in 2017, the world witnessed the birth of its first Ministry of Tolerance.The UAE has managed to address all forms of cultural globalisation with an aware approach, to occupy the first position in the world in terms of peaceful coexistence among its various nationalities.The UAE provides its resident communities with luxury, which has made living and working in the UAE the dream of many young people. It has also occupied a leading position, for the seventh consecutive year, in a list of countries that Arab youth prefer to live in, according to the 10th Arab Youth Survey 2018 by Pearson Marsteller.The UAE has established cultural relations with many countries, is an active member of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation UNESCO, and supports projects related to global heritage conservation, protection antiquities, introducing cultures and promoting communication between communities.
