Tolerance and coexistence crucial for sustainable economic growth and investment: Muslim Council of Elders

The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam has affirmed that promoting the values of tolerance and coexistence is a fundamental pillar in supporting sustainable economic growth and encouraging investment locally and internationally.

He also pointed out that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, represents an inspiring global model of tolerance and coexistence, which has, in turn, transformed it into an attractive environment for international investment and a supporter of local and global economic growth.

Judge Abdelsalam made his remarks during the “Role of Tolerance in Inspiring Investment and Prosperity” part of the 2023 Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) in Abu Dhabi. The event is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and with the participation of 170 nations and 600 international speakers.

He noted that the event represents a genuine opportunity to transfer the UAE’s prominent experience and learn about essential global efforts to promote the values of tolerance and coexistence within government institutions.

Judge Abdelsalam added that the conference, which is held in partnership between the UAE’s Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence and the Muslim Council of Elders, with participation and support from Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, aims to enhance international efforts towards adopting government policies that support humane values.

He affirmed that the Muslim Council of Elders, under the chairmanship of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, supports constructive efforts to encourage investment and promote economic growth, which eventually fosters tolerance.
